Abstract

With the rapid advancement of technology and information, gambling has transformed into an online form that offers more convenience and security. In the last three years, the number of online gambling cases in the jurisdiction of the Mojokerto Police has increased quite dramatically. This research aims to understand the role of the police as well as the various factors that hinder their efforts in tackling online gambling crimes in the area. The method used in this study is empirical juridical, which examines the applicable legal regulations while observing the reality in the field. From the results of the study, it was found that the role of the police in tackling online gambling includes three important aspects: preventive efforts such as socialization to the community, preventive measures, and repressive measures through law enforcement. However, there are still several obstacles faced by the police, such as lack of resources and coordination between agencies. These inhibiting factors must be addressed immediately so as not to cause legal impacts that can reduce public trust in law enforcement. This research provides a clear picture of the challenges faced and the need for more effective strategies in tackling online gambling
